Throughout 2011 we’ll be highlighting some of the best cards and rewards programs we come across online, and figured we’d kick it off this month with a quick feature about a Discover card we recently heard about.
The Discover Escape Card offers a variety of rewards for customers, and is very similar to another one of our favorites, the Capital One Venture Visa Card. With this Discover card, customers earn 2 miles per every $1 spent, with a cash back redemption bonus of $1 for every 100 miles. What does this mean for you? Simply put, you earn double miles versus many competitive card offerings, and unlike many card reward programs, continue to accrue additional cash back privileges throughout the year. We’ve always been a fan of Discover card and their Discover rewards programs, and this card lives up to our expectations.
Like many cards there is an annual fee (in this case it’s $60) but don’t fret – Discover Escape cardholders earn a bonus 1,000 miles per month with any purchase for the first 25 months. Compared to similar offerings we’ve seen from competing card issuers, that’s still a great deal – it basically amounts to a $250 sign up bonus just for joining. As with any Discover card, the APR you receive will be determined at the time of sign-up depending on your credit history – but if you’re in the market for a new card with a strong rewards program, we definitely recommend you head over to Discover and apply now.
